Abstract: A physico-mathematical model is proposed that makes it possible to estimate the level of energy transfer in two laser beams intersecting in a target plasma [cross-beam energy transfer (CBET) effect] during the interaction of incident and reflected radiation from the turning point for a self-similar profile of a plane isothermal rarefaction wave. The position of the three-wave resonance point is determined taking into account the frequency shift of electromagnetic radiation that occurs when it propagates in a nonstationary plasma corona, as well as when radiation is reflected from a moving turning point. It is shown that two three-wave resonance points can exist on the self-similar profile, where the energy is transferred between the beams in opposite directions.
