Abstract: A method for coherent combining of two femtosecond laser beams based on acousto-optic interaction is proposed. Experimental studies demonstrated a stationary interference pattern of two beams at the output of the acousto-optic cell if the ultrasound frequency equals the mode spacing of the femtosecond radiation spectrum. Control of intensity distribution between two output beams is performed by amplitude and phase of the electrical signal applied to the acousto-optic cell.
