It is shown that an attractive force in a first-order beam can arise for particles with simultaneously positive or simultaneously negative permittivity and magnetic permeability. It is found that in the case of an off-axis location of a particle, its motion in the beam cross section can have a vortex shape. In this case, the particle can either move toward the beam axis or be pushed away from it.

Keywords: Bessel beam, light scattering, light pressure, attractive force, spherical particle, negative-index metamaterial.

Received: 16.09.2022
Revised: 20.10.2022
Accepted: 20.10.2022

D.
